These vintage throw pillow covers are Pattu woven on a pit loom.
Pattu weaving is an art technique that achieves an embroidery-like effect. It is customary among the desert communities to gift pattu in marriages to the in-law’s family.
A pit loom is a type of hand loom that is set within a pit in the ground. This design allows the weaver to operate the loom with their feet, using treadles to manipulate the warp threads.
The pillow covers are made of wool and woven with red, turquoise, orange, black, and blue threads. The set of throw pillow covers is unused and still in very nice condition. The back of the covers do not have zippered closures.
