Description

The Shigra Bag is a handmade, bucket-shaped tote bag from Ecuador woven from multicolored fiber in a geometric tribal pattern. It is vintage and at least 30 years old but is likely older.

The bag is made with natural agave fibers and braided handles/straps in the same color as the bag, and the bag does not include pockets, snap closures, or lining. The straps are meant to be customizable in length so the ends are unfinished in order to be knotted to a preferred length.

There is a small spot on the side, which is shown in the photos.

Height: Approx. 9 inches.
Base of bag is approx. 8 inches in diameter.
The bottom/base of the bag is nearly 8 inches in diameter.

Items may be visibly faded, distressed, typical of age, and consistent with most of the Indian wall hangings in stock, which distinguishes them from the newer, mass-produced textiles made for the tourism and import markets. Most items show some discoloration, wear, missing patches of embroidery or mirrors, and faint stains in some cases.
