This handmade vintage woven batik fabric is reversible and features a striped pattern. The fabric is created using resist-dye techniques and natural dyes. Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique for fabric, where melted wax is applied to cloth to prevent dye absorption, creating intricate patterns. The process involves preparing the fabric, applying wax with a canting (pen) or cap (stamp), dyeing, and removing the wax with boiling water. This often-repeated process produces detailed, multi-colored designs.

These durable cloth pieces were made by expert artisans from high-quality materials, making them especially eye-catching when framed as art pieces or incorporated as fabric pieces for sewing projects.

Care instructions: Not machine washable. Spot-clean only or utilize cleaning methods suitable for fine/antique fabrics. Steam or carefully iron for wrinkle removal.

Items may be visibly faded, distressed, typical of age, and consistent with most of the Indian wall hangings in stock, which distinguishes them from the newer, mass-produced textiles made for the tourism and import markets. Most items show some discoloration, wear, missing patches of embroidery or mirrors, and faint stains in some cases.
