A beautiful pair of vintage Indian Sankhia. They are heavily embroidered in rich, vibrant colors featuring floral motifs. They are slightly different sizes but appear to match otherwise.
Sankhia are handmade, embroidered door hangings from the Kutch region of Gujarat, India. They are a type of toran, a traditional Indian door decoration that symbolizes welcome and prosperity.
Width: Approx. 19 inches at the widest point
Height: Approx. 62 inches
Items may be visibly faded, distressed, typical of age, and consistent with most of the Indian textiles in stock, which distinguishes them from the newer, mass-produced textiles made for the tourism and import markets. Most items show some discoloration, wear, missing patches of embroidery or mirrors, and faint stains in some cases.
