Small Handmade Beaded Cowrie Shell Sisal Basket made by the Kamba people in Kenya. Measures approx. 14 inches in length.
Age estimated mid-1900s. Sourced from Gujarat, India.
Items may be visibly faded, distressed, typical of age, and consistent with most of the textiles in stock, which distinguishes them from the newer, mass-produced textiles made for the tourism and import markets. Most items show some discoloration, wear, missing patches of embroidery or mirrors, and faint stains in some cases.
