Vintage Dowry Bag with Embroidery from Gujarat, India, made with 100% cotton fabric. It is expertly crafted with needlepoint work and is still in fairly good condition. Embellished with hand embroidery. This piece is estimated to have been made circa 1970s-1980s. There is some discoloration/fading near the top, and the bottom of the bag is somewhat tattered. Some missing mirrors.
Bags like this were used as part of the dowry and to pack gifts during wedding ceremonies and other festivities.
