Vintage Hand Embroidered Dowry Bag from Gujarat. A high-quality bag made from 100% cotton.
The embroidery is very neat and excellently done on both sides of the bag (both sides are pictured in the photos). Note that the handles have been cut off.
Used as part of the dowry and to pack gifts during wedding ceremonies and other festive events.
Some spots/discoloration on the bag and color transfer from the threads.

Items may be visibly faded, distressed, typical of age, and consistent with most of the Indian wall hangings in stock, which distinguishes them from the newer, mass-produced textiles made for the tourism and import markets. Most items show some discoloration, wear, missing patches of embroidery or mirrors, and faint stains in some cases.
