Vintage extra-long Hand Embroidered Dowry Bag from Gujarat. A high-quality bag featuring metallic embellishments, applique and colorful tassels.
The embroidery is very neat and excellently done on both sides of the bag (both sides are pictured in the photos).
Used as part of the dowry and to pack gifts during wedding ceremonies and other festive events.

Items may be visibly faded, distressed, typical of age, and consistent with most of the Indian wall hangings in stock, which distinguishes them from the newer, mass-produced textiles made for the tourism and import markets. Most items show some discoloration, wear, missing patches of embroidery or mirrors, and faint stains in some cases.
